IrelandEnhance your URI career experience with an international internship in Dublin!

This twelve-week semester program in Ireland will provide students the opportunity to gain professional experience and to develop valuable cross-cultural communication skills. Students will live in the rich, warm community of Dublin and be placed in internships based on their strengths and interests. Students will be at their site Monday – Thursday, with weekends available for sightseeing and local excursion.

Dublin is the capital and largest city of Ireland. It is located in the province of Leinster on Ireland’s east coast, on the mouth of the River Liffey. Dublin has an urban population of approximately 1.2 million and is a historical and contemporary center for education, the arts, administration, economy and industry.

ACADEMICS

Students will earn 15 credits for the URI Ireland Program:
  • COM 310 - Topics in Communication (3 credits)
  • ITR 301 – Field Experience I (9 credits)
  • ITR 303 – Colloquium I (3 credits)
Internship placements are across multiple disciplines but are limited.

Students primary activity will be an internship placement in and around Dublin. Prior to the start of the internship, students will experience a tour of Dublin and the surrounding area. Cultural requirements will be integrated into the seminar course.

There will be pre-departure meetings during the fall semester in order to prepare students for the internship experience and life in Dublin. Students will be compelled to attend all pre-departure meetings.
 

ACCOMMODATIONS

Students will stay in double room occupancy apartments and will have access to free WiFi, linens and towels.

Meals are not included in the program fee; however, students will have access to a kitchen for cooking individual meals.

Kelly Watts has worked in the Office of International Education at the University of Rhode Island for over 9 years. In her role as an Assistant Director, she manages off-campus faculty-led programs, on-campus Summer Institutes for international students and is the director of the URI Disney program. Prior to her role at URI, Kelly served as the International Programs Coordinator for pre-college programs at Stanford University, directing programs for high school students in Beijing, Singapore, London and Istanbul.
