Program Description:

kin in AusURI and its affiliate, The Education Abroad Network (TEAN), are offering qualifying Kinesiology (KIN) majors the opportunity to complete their Supervised Field Experience in Australia. Students can take advantage of our connections "Down Under" to earn URI credit, develop new personal and professional networks, and gain valuable experiential experience during their summer or semester internship abroad. These internships generally take place in one of three locations: Sydney, Perth, and Newcastle, but are subject to change depending on the placement needs of the applicants. Students not only have the opportunity to gain future career experience, but a greater cultural understanding through immersion in the Australian occupational environment and participation in cultural excursions organized by TEAN.

Depending on the term selected, students will engage in between 35 and 40 hours of work per week in fields related to health & fitness, clinical exercise physiology, and strength & conditioning. Both URI and TEAN will work with participants to pull together elements that favor learning, obtaining valuable workplace skills, personal growth, and hands-on cross-cultural field training.  This unique collaboration provides students with the academic expertise of their home institution, as well as the broad scope of experience and support our partner is known for such as its pre- and post-departure orientation programs, in-country resident director services, and 24/7 emergency assistance.
